Esther Essien
Esther is a Paralegal at the OCFW. As a Paralegal, she provides administrative and investigative support to attorneys and mitigation specialists. Prior to returning to the OCFW, Esther spent nearly two years as a litigation assistant at an Austin civil litigation firm, where she supported attorneys in complex commercial litigation.
Background
Esther Essien is a Paralegal at the OCFW. She first joined the office as an undergraduate intern while attending The University of Texas at Austin. Esther earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with interdisciplinary studies in psychology, sociology, government, and forensic science that fostered her interest in the intersection of psychology, the criminal legal system, litigation, and advocacy. During a study abroad program in Cape Town, South Africa, she studied urban economic development while also completing an internship at a local domestic violence shelter. Prior to returning to the OCFW, Esther spent nearly two years as a litigation assistant at a civil litigation firm in Austin, where she supported attorneys through all stages of complex commercial litigation. She is excited to return to the OCFW as a paralegal, where she continues to build on her litigation experience through post-conviction advocacy.
