Izabella is a paralegal at the OCFW. Born and raised in the San Antonio, Texas area, Izabella De la Garza (she/her/hers) graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2023 with degrees in Mexican American and Latina/o Studies and Government, along with a certificate in Public Policy. She dedicated her time at UT Austin to advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion through student organizations, such as the Latinx Community Affairs. As a J.J. Pickle Undergraduate Research Fellow, she also completed a research project on the correlation between the number of federal social welfare laws passed and the Hispanic poverty rate in the United States with the guidance of professionals and peers in the Government Department. Her leadership and research experiences shaped her interests, as well as provided her with vital skills to succeed. Izabella can also speak conversational Spanish. She is humbled to be a paralegal at OCFW, as she plans on continuing working within her passion for advocacy and public policy.
