Background
Samah (she/her) joined the OCFW in 2023 as a paralegal. She is an Austin-born honors graduate of the University of North Texas, wherein she double-majored in Political Science and International Studies with a concentration in International Development & Humanitarian Affairs and earned double minors in Women and Gender Studies and Arabic. While in school, Samah served as a Democracy Fellow with the Campus Votes Project developing civic engagement and participation strategies, and she contributed to research efforts regarding the intersections of incarceration, race, and gender. Before becoming a part of the OCFW, Samah enjoyed taking part in critical advocacy campaigns for education affordability, hunger, houselessness, and environmental policy as a Racial Equity and Justice Intern at the Center for American Progress. Further, she delighted in fostering her passion for personal advocacy at the Refugee Services of Texas and Collective Power for Reproductive Justice. Outside of the office, you’ll find her tending to her garden, learning new cross-stitch patterns, and hunting for the best thrift finds in Austin. Samah is thrilled to be a part of the OCFW!
