Michelle Ward

Michelle Ward is a post-conviction attorney at OCFW. Prior to joining the OCFW, Michelle worked as a capital habeas attorney in the Capital Habeas Unit of the Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of Texas. 

Background

Prior to joining the OCFW, Michelle worked as a capital habeas attorney in the Capital Habeas Unit of the Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of Texas.

As a law student, Michelle clerked for the Georgia Capital Defender, a trial capital defense office, and the Capital Habeas Unit at the Federal Defender Program in Atlanta, GA. She also worked for the Legal Aid Society, in Brooklyn, NY, representing clients at trial who were charged with felonies and misdemeanors, and the Clemency and Pardons Project, where she obtained a full pardon on her client’s behalf.

 

Michelle graduated from Brooklyn Law School, where she was awarded three public interest legal fellowships: the Edward V. Sparer Public Interest Law Fellowship; the Brooklyn Law Students for the Public Interest Fellowship; and the BLS Graduate Public Interest Fellowship. She also received the Gold Pro Bono Award for over 1,700 hours of pro bono legal services. A Texas native, Michelle is honored to have the opportunity to now serve the men and women on death row in her home state as a post-conviction attorney at the OCFW. She is also a graduate of Baylor University.
