Job Description
The OCFW accounting intern will perform entry-level administrative and technical assistance work. He or she will perform primarily entry-level clerical work in the Finance Department in areas such as bookkeeping, inventory control, statistics, employment, human resources, purchasing, or accounting. Other work involves compiling and tabulating data, checking documents for accuracy, transporting documents, copying/filing documents, maintaining files, answering phones, opening agency mail, greeting visitors, and accepting packages for the department. He or she will work under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Examples of Work Performed

Assists with maintaining files and records.

Assembles, organizes, and tabulates data.

Files and maintains supplies, forms, records, and reports.

Opens and distributes incoming mail and prepares mail-outs.

Assist in conducting physical inventory.

Perform data entry and retrieval.

May deliver, pick up, or receive documents, supplies, equipment, or materials; check for quantity and quality; or make arrangements for repairs and services.

Performs related work as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Skill in using computers and accounting and/or human resources related software applications, database entry/management, and in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.

Ability to communicate effectively in a professional environment.

Knowledge of office procedures and of spelling, grammar, punctuation, and arithmetic.

Ability to prepare and maintain records, files, and reports.

Attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
General Qualifications
Applicants should be enrolled at an institution of higher learning in an undergraduate business, public administration, human resources program, or related program. Familiarity with clerical operations. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent supplemented by courses in accounting is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
